Wee Three Kings Achieves Perfect Score in Book Contest
The 2013 Purple Dragonfly Book Awards contest – a children’s book contest in which judges seldom give more than a few perfect scores – recently concluded with 17 entries receiving 80 out of 80 possible points. One of those First-place perfect scores was given to Wee Three Kings by Brent L. Anderson
“This year’s competition was the stiffest ever, with an unprecedented number of entries from all over the world including England, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, France, Canada, Dubai, the United States and others,” says Linda F. Radke, president of Five Star Publications, Inc., the sponsor of the Dragonfly Book Awards.
Wee Three Kings is a family-friendly tale where ceramic figurines of the three wise men and their hilarious camel come to life each Christmas season. Changing hands, they weave in and out of different lives and travel around the world to complete missions of faith and goodwill that illustrates the true meaning of the holiday.
The book is gaining notoriety. Anderson’s book received a Five out of Five Star review from ForeWord Clarion Reviews. Their website explains, “Book reviews are critical to getting your title noticed in todays overcrowded publishing space. Booksellers, librarians, and discerning readers depend on unbiased reviews from a trusted source to help them discover compelling new books.”
“Wee Three Kings has what it takes to become a holiday classic… Positively enchanting from start to finish…the book charms Isabel Marant Shoes from adventure to adventure, with hilarious moments contributed by the wee but mighty camel …tremendously appealing…” – ForeWord Clarion Reviews
Another book industry giant had positive reviews for Wee Three Kings. Since 1933, Kirkus has been one of the most trusted and authoritative voices in book discovery. Now, 80 years later, Kirkus Reviews is distributed to more than 5,000 industry influencers, including bookstore buyers, librarians, publishers, agents, film executives and foreign publishers.
“Anderson leavens this Christian book’s evangelism with deft humor, likeable characters and a buoyant sense of magical adventure. His small heroes are fully realized individuals with appealing quirks, questioning minds and humble compassion… A well-written… tale for all ages.” – Kirkus Reviews
In addition to the first place award from Purple Dragonfly, Wee Three Kings was a winner in the 2013 Christian Choice Books Awards, taking second place in their children’s book category.
“This positive recognition is great,” says author, Brent Anderson. Anderson hopes to use the recognition as momentum for the 2013 Christmas shopping season and reach an even greater audience with his warmhearted tale.
It’s not uncommon for books from small press publishers and independent publishers to take a few years to build momentum and earn the recognition they deserve in the highly competitive Adidas Pas Cher Homme book industry. In the David and Goliath world of publishing, it looks like Wee Three Kings has a few stones in its pocket.
